Comments:
Chris Craft built very fine boats and marine inboard engines. From 1949 to 1953 they dabled in outboards building the 5.5 hp example seen here and a 10hp Commander. These were great little motors and run fabulously.

It is reported that production ceased in 1953 due to patent issues with Mercury. Chris Craft sold the tooling to their outboards off to the Oliver tractor company and in 1955 they reapeared as Oliver outboards.
